ABSTRACT

The arrival at the North Cape In this final chapter, I would like to bring the discussions in the previous chapters together via a critical reconstruction of place in “the feminine”. I will discuss the implications of the journey towards the north and the North Cape for the conceptualisation of place. I will start by coming back to the story of Sofia, whom we met in the introductory chapter, and who is a figuration of the change in the conceptualization of place through the encounter with the north. In this concluding chapter, I will write Sofia as place – she is place in “the feminine” – from the perspective of being a female self, a feminine place. This is made possible by the actual arrival at the North Cape.
