ABSTRACT
The second millennium CE in Europe displays a close-set series of new impulses of intellect and sensibility. This phenomenon of cultural growth is, we have suggested, not unlike the growth-surge of adolescence in individuals, brought about by an influx of psychosexual energies and producing the emergence of an adult identity.
