ABSTRACT
Business opportunities are often accompanied by uncertainties and risk. In this simulation the developer is confident that, if planning permission is secured, the development will be profitable. The developer's proposition is to buy from the owner a piece of land which is currently used by her caravan business and which has seen 'better days'. A developer has identified a potential site for a MegaBurger roadside restaurant and a 32-bedroom Snooze-Inn lodge-type hotel on a main road that crosses the main M48 less than a mile away. However, a number of problems are holding up the acquisition of the site. The developer has persisted in discussions with the owner in the belief that these problems can be overcome. The chapter talks about abiding by the 'rules', although events like the owner demanding to hold on to the vacant portion of the site might force their hand.
