A manufacturing company was concerned about the security of its mainframe computer, which controlled the shipment of approximately £400 million worth of product annually. The management was particularly worried that the mainframe was
vulnerable to attack by computer hackers and that its failure, even for a short duration, would impact heavily on shipments to regional distributors and hence revenues.
