ABSTRACT

Now that we have introduced the main ideas in Part 1, it is time to consider each core image in detail, and to do this we need to explain first the general format of the next seven chapters. This is important because each chapter follows the same basic format and understanding this will enable the reader to start with any particular image or aspect that might be of interest. As we stated in the Overview, the aim of this book is not to be prescriptive or all-encompassing, but rather to offer a set of images for the reader to think about in relation to their own ideas and perspectives. But before we introduce these images, we need to explain the chapter structure and how the images are structured so as to allow the reader to make comparisons with their own perspectives, and also comparisons between the images themselves.
