ABSTRACT

Body-centred cues include haptic, kinaesthetic, and vestibular cues. These types of cue are most relevant for aircraft handling, less relevant for ground vehicles, and least relevant for vessels. Hence, the research literature is concerned mostly with aircraft handling, and most of the examples in this chapter are similarly drawn from aviation. Little attention will be given to haptic and kinaesthetic cues: the vestibular system is most important, and will be considered in detail.
