ABSTRACT

I Am very sorry that Your Honours has been so long upon the Money Bill, and it would not be accepted : Oh that there was such Unity amongst you ! that you might be all of one heart and one mind for the Publick Good ; I would neither have Lords nor Commons stand upon Perogatives, but both yield to that which shall make for the Peace of the Kingdom. Therefore I humbly beseech you, that every one should decline the evil of his own ways, and beg sincerely pardon ; and then you may obtain God’s Direction, because the thing requires haste : As for the Proclamation, it did not satisfie the People, being it made no provision, but for the King’s Tax, which don’t reach every body ; and the time being so short, they would not take Half Crowns which before they would : So that the People are not satisfied at all, but are at their Wits-end, and can neither receive nor pay.
