ABSTRACT

YOU may asure your selves, that I never gave the Gift, but submitted to Providence, and if the God of Providence takes it away I cant help it: It was because you did not receive as from the God of Providence, therefore I am to tell you, if you will behave your selves well, and beg pardon for what you have done amiss, and pray to God to give you Wisdom that you may find Favour in his sight, he may give how what he thinks sit, but the Table you must never have, for all I have don’d it to put his Plate upon, yet notwithstanding you must give it up freely and trust God, for that has been the sole Cause of all these Evils that is come upon the Kingdom because we cant trust him, but he will be trusted, and it has been his Divine Will, to make me a true Speaker to Rings and Parliaments, but I being a Woman they could not believe, neither could they do what I desired, but afterwards they did declare, it would a been better for them, if they could be there is not any did lay a lye to my charge: For when I challeng’d the Popish Priests to talk with them, to prove whether or know they could work Miracles or call out Derris, for I had told king James that the Priests deluded him, for they had not the lower to work Miracles or cast out Devils: For I said,Dear Sovereign, Tour Majesty [illegible text in source], that no miracle can de wrought but with the Power of God and Faith, neither Can they cast out Devils without it, and if they have that, they may live without Victuals, for is not a miracle to live without Victuals, but it is a thing more than is usual, for if any man can make an extraordinary Watch, sure be can make an ordinal, and Dear Sovereign I’ll make you judge. I will tan 7 days or 9 days or as many days as your Majesty shall think fit, and the King seemed to be vexed, knowing litchis Melts could not fast, he said, Mrs. James, You did not fast 14 days and 14 rights, you did but dream so, but I told his majesty I did not do it in a corner, for the whole Neighbourhood was witness of it every day, and I will assure your majesty I would not tell you a lye, and he answered, I know you will not tell a lye, but Mr. Cook the first that has charged me with a Lye: for last night God Almighty was pleased to plant Thoughts in my Heart, though I neither joyed nor sorrowed at them, but submitted to his Divine Pleasure, I thought it was highly necessary for to send for Mr. Cook, and thought it was highly necessary to communicate my Thoughts to him, but he sent me word, that he could not come, and that I had belied him and abused him, but if Truth does I cant help that, but he sent me word he would come to morrow but what I had to do I should do to night, and therefore I could not stay till to narrow, but I must declare it to night, for God is infinite in mercy and pity, and has considered Mr.Cooke, and has took pity upon him, and is not willing to bring that Judgment upon him, as he is willing to bring upon himself, for I have told him if he takes the Table, he must not bring it into the Church, and if he does, that God will not hear his prayers, and will withdraw his presence from their Sacraments: and after this I was to tell him and did, if he medled with the Table, that God would take any his Spiritual Life, and I told the Church-wardens the same that they might bear as witness, and therefore this is the third time that I am to tell you, and the last time that you must let the Table go, for the molt High God is not willing to bring there Troubles upon you, which you might have prevented if you had been wise, but now his clemency and goodness is such, that his Divine Majesty will end the Controversie, if you will let the Table go free, it will be his goodness to give the Plate which Mr. Cooke first saw, and that I told him I had dedicated to God, upon the fame Conditions al proposal at first but you may keep your own Plate, and I must let up 2 Tables in the Church, one expressing the Plate and the other whirl had done for my Children since my Husbands Death, and that the Plate must be consecrated, and it must be made sure to St.Bennets ‘Pauls Wharse for ever, and if there be any thing thought of to secure the Plate it must be granted, and you must receive it as from the God of Providence with Thankfulness, but I may give you the Cushion, and the [illegible text in source] Valian if I will, but it is more fitter for a Queen than for you, but if you be Thankful and glorifie God I shant think much of it. The Clergy that belongs to Sion Colledge behaves themselves well, like Disciples and Men of honour, and admired My Gift, and made haste to settle it before I dyd, though it was very troublesome and chargeable, for they unsettled the whole constitution of their antient Library, for to make room for to settle my Husbands Books, and they added greatly to the Gift, for the Chances cost 3 or 4 score Pounds or more, and God has blest them since with a great many more Books. I wish to God that some noble hearts would give them money to buy Chances to chane them up, and they have carried themselves very civil to me over since Toe Lord bless them and raise up Sion to Glory, shall ever be my prayer, also am their true Friend, and humble Servant and Souls well-wisher, ENILOR JAMES.
