ABSTRACT

Effective information services managers understand the nature of human motivation and are prepared to use this knowledge to motivate their people to achieve the information service's and parent organization's objectives. Not everyone is motivated by the same thing. The key to successful and effective management is to understand what motivates each individual and to be flexible enough to satisfy these diverse needs. Motivation can be used as a measure of a m anager's performance as a leader. The extent to which they motivate others will determine their effectiveness as a leader.
