ABSTRACT

This Chapter is concerned with the personal experience of those disabled people who took part in this study and their views towards their current economic situation. It analyses the ways in which the respondents perceived their own impairments and outlines factors influencing their perceptions. Furthermore, the Chapter highlights the forms of discrimination they encounter in their everyday lives. Finally, it also includes a brief account of the institutional life of disabled people resident within institutions currently providing economic support in terms of employment, training schemes, and sheltered workshops programmes.
