ABSTRACT
Attemptshavebeenmadetostandardizethegeneralprinciplesconcerningdomicileandresidence,andwhenin1972 theCommitteeofMinistersoftheCouncilofEuroperecommendedrulesfortheinterpretationoftheseterms,domicile wasdescribedinthefollowingmanner:
"Theconceptofdomicileimportsalegalrelationship betweenapersonandacountrygovernedbyaparticularsystemoflaworaplacewithinsuchacountry. Thisrelationshipisinferredfromthefactthatapersonvoluntarilyestablishesorretainshissoleorprincipalresidencewithinthatcountryoratthatplace withtheintentionofmakingandretaininginthat countryorplacethecentreofhispersonal,socialand economicinterests.Thisintentionmaybeinferred, interalia,fromtheperiodofhisresidence,pastand prospective,aswellasfromtheexistenceofotherties ofapersonalorbusinessnaturebetweenthatperson andthatcountryorplace."
