ABSTRACT
Consent is an elusive concept. Everybody knows its meaning, and still it is quite difficult to explain how the concept works. The main problem seems to lie in the tension between the importance of the idea of unanimous agreement on collective decisions or on social norms and the fact that real consent never seems to be observed in society. Bridging this gap is, in a sense, a key task of social philosophy.
