ABSTRACT
The position of legal science as one of the specialised legal practices of modem law varies according to the legal culture in question. Generalising, we can express the task of legal science as follows: legal science, together with adjudication, bears the responsibility for the interpretation and systematisation of the legal order, safeguards the internal rationality of the law in terms of its consistency and coherence, and contributes to the selflimitation of the law.
