ABSTRACT
Annual mean temperatures over Central England showed a warming trend of +0.6°C between 1901 and 1998. Five ofthe ten warmest years of the 20th century occurred in the 1990s: 1990, 1995, 1997, 1998 and 1999. The warming was greatest in the four months August-November with little or no warming trend in other months (excepting March).
