ABSTRACT
An inventory of greenhouse gas emissions by source for the East Midlands in 1997 has been determined for the six greenhouse gases included in the Kyoto agreement (carbon dioxide (C02), methane (C~), nitrous oxide (N20), hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), perfluorocarbons (PFCs) and sulphur hexafluoride (SF6)). This is approximately 60 million tonnes of C02 equivalent, or an estimated 14.2 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent per person per year.
