International social work field placements are a potentially powerful learning tool which offers opportunities for students to confront different views of human behaviour. learn different systems of social welfare. and see different ways to remediate social problems (Healy, 2(01). As social work field placements move into the global forum, emerging professional research is now addressing issues such as evaluation equivalencies, establishment of reliable international partners, the process of student selection, and provision of student support (Barlow and Whittaker. 2002; Bolea et aI., 1999; Dubois and Ntetu, 2000; Tesoriero and Rajaratnam. 2(01).
