ABSTRACT

This chapter is about working with child welfare praCtltIOners who supervised and assessed the field practice of international social work students. It stems from my experience of co-ordinating Dalhousie University's participation in an international project entitled. 'Child Abuse. Protection and Welfare'. Student exchanges formed a significant portion of this three year project among schools of social work in Canada, Sweden, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. I

Students were selected by each of the participating universities to do field placements abroad. Dalhousie University's Maritime School of Social Work sent seven students to the Project's three European partners, and received eight from these same universities.
