ABSTRACT

International exchanges raise opportunities and challenges for those who participate in them. In this chapter. we explore possibilities for an international exchange and a collaborative partnership between two social work qualifying programmes in two countries with contrasting national and socio-econornic contexts: England and South Africa. Our aim was to consider the compatibility of two specific programmes for possible collaborative teaching and research. The two programmes involved were the University of North London (UNL) in London in the United Kingdom and the University of Durban-Westville (UDW) in Durban in South Africa.
