ABSTRACT

A professional pilot is a person who engages in such flying as makes it necessary that he or she holds a valid airline transport pilot’s licence (ATPL). This chapter will therefore not address the professional conduct of persons who are holders of private pilots’ licences and use such licences for non-remunerative flights, or flights which do not involve payment of monies for services rendered in flying aircraft. Also excluded are holders of ATPLs who happen to fly on particular occasions under circumstances where a private pilot’s licence would be adequate, for instance when a person flies for recreation or on personal business although he may hold an ATPL.
