ABSTRACT

The traditional method of training pilots was developed originally by the RAFIRAAF and was adopted by the general aviation industry many years ago. Those people who know about flight instruction will recognise the terms "Effects of Controls" and "Straight and Level". These are lesson structures that have remained effectively unchanged since the 1950's. The lesson structures were designed for aspiring pilots who were working in their first language, were from a Western culture and had background exposure to technology. These training structures have been broadly accepted as 'the grail' by most training organisations with only small modifications to suit specific requirements.
