Developing measures of situation awareness, task performance, and contextual performance in ATC

While the existing performance research represents a significant advance on previous conceptualisations of performance, these models are limited by their exclusive focus on the behavioural elements of performance. As noted above, many aspects of a controller's work are no longer directly observable. The project team, therefore, expanded the definition of task performance to incorporate cognitive elements relating to Situation Awareness (SA), such as perception, comprehension and projection (Endlsey, 1995).
