ABSTRACT
In exploring the relationship between culture and safety within the aviation industry, is important to try and establish whether any phenomenon is the result of a national, industry and organisational culture, or indeed a mix of all three. One way of doing this is to ask the question, Is Australian airline safety above average because of a safe national culture? In other words, do Australians have an inherent aversion to risk and therefore a low level of risk acceptability?
