ABSTRACT

In terms of argumentation techniques, the relatively heavy involvement in organizations is significant since it provided the vocabulary for describing persecution and the knowledge that certain kinds of discursive tactics, notably legalistic, political and empirical, would likely have more effect upon the IRB. Despite the fact that numerous host countries are accessible overland, and that travel from the Peru can be arranged with relative ease, there were numerous claimants who resorted to some kind of intermediary for their travel arrangements. Of all the groups, Peruvian claimants had the most specific information concerning Canada, Québec and Montréal. Neighbouring countries are of concern to Peruvians, which sets them apart from claimants from the former Soviet Union, Israel, or Pakistan. Overall, the choice to leave Peru was initiated when claimants felt themselves caught between a rock and a hard place.
