ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to provide ideas, events, people and organizations alive via the use of specially designed cards, and to encourage students to see links and relationships between different phenomena. Card games can be an excellent test of students' intellectual dexterity. Students may try to contrive relationships where there are none - it should be emphasized that pointing out total 'non-links' is as valid as discerning clear and definite relationships. Externalizing ideas and other variables onto pieces of card can make them more accessible and malleable. Students will have gained a valuable insight into the diverse types of relationship that link ideas, people, events and organizations. Instead of giving students a mix of cards, give them a set of ideas only and ask them to do the same exercise - discerning in what sense the cards are linked or relate to each other.
