ABSTRACT

Students write down a topic or issue on a piece of paper. All the pieces of paper are thrown into a suitable receptacle, and each student then picks out one. With the tutor or a student monitoring a stopwatch, each student has to speak continuously on their topic for one or two minutes. Other students 'beep' and interject when the speaker is veering away from the subject, hesitating, waffling, or becoming irrelevant.
