ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the activity of question time in a nutshell, aim of the activity, need of the activity, time required for the activity, how the activity works and the advantages of the activity. Tie up a course, a module or term with an end-of-semester 'Question Time' event featuring all the key personalities from the course - to reflect on the big topics and the dominant themes, and to crystallize debate on the really fundamental issues. The activity aims to enable students to see, grapple with, and grasp the key underlying themes and continuities within a course. It also aims to engender make-believe and hypothetical situations in which personalities who wouldn't normally have met each other do so, with all the accompanying interest. Students will be able to analyse the relationships between people they may never have seen together before; the actors will be exposed to serious questioning and they will have had to think on their feet and respond intelligently.
