ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the activity of theories as diagrams in a nutshell, aim of the activity, need of the activity, time required for the activity, how the activity works and the advantages of the activity. Theories can initially be very difficult to grasp in abstract form and involve quite complex discussions. Hence there is a need to simplify, clarify and understand - but via non-verbal means. In this activity students attempt to represent their theory in graphic form. The activity aims to make complex theories more accessible, and to acknowledge that some people learn best non-verbally - that is, by expressing ideas in a different, more creative and artistic form. Students, in pairs, are asked to represent an important, and possibly complex, theory in graphic form.
