ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the activity of read out loud in a nutshell, aim of the activity, need of the activity, time required for the activity, how the activity works and the advantages of the activity. Bring a text to life by going round the group and asking each student in turn to read out a sentence, and asking another student to spontaneously analyse and interpret. The activity aims to involve all the students in the rigorous analysis of a set passage. It also aims to provide a comprehensive and intricate step-by-step review of the text. Some students may be inarticulate and unfocused as 'interpreters - other more incisive students can be brought in at this point! Quiet students might find the whole exercise difficult but, hopefully, they will be able to develop their communication skills during the session.
