ABSTRACT

Taking his coffee and rolls in the long dining-room looking over the beach he found himself thinking of Julie. If Julie hadn't died he would not have come to Kabarta. The job had been offered to hirn sympathetically after her death by Lord Stansted, president of the University Museum, who knew that he was still undecided about his future career. A London newspaper had offered hirn an important post particularly suited to his European experience. So far, for reasons which even he hirnself found hard to rationalise, he had been unable to make up his mind.
