ABSTRACT

The convention is that museums, where they can, incorporate a shop or sales point for souvenirs and gifts. In this instance, a collectors' shop has incorporated a museum in its upper floors. In conventional museum philosophy, such an attraction wOj.lld perhaps be sniffed at as a 'fetish mecca'. However, both in the new collecting and amongst progressive museum practitioners, such an establishment is more representative of an es cape from the rigidity of the old collecting.
