ABSTRACT

IN LOCK STEP Produce some string and ask the participants to thread it through an item of clothing (belt, shirt or shoe). Pull the string a little bit tighter. Now ask them to walk across the room together. If you tie people – not too tightly – by their legs, it can be a useful metaphor for the challenge of getting a company to walk in step. However, it is best to appoint a safety officer or take on this role yourself.
