ABSTRACT

In late November 2008, Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, addressed the United Jewish Communities General Assembly and outlined his view of what would become known as ‘economic peace’. According to Haartez, Netanyahu said:

We must weave an economic peace alongside a political process … That means that we have to strengthen the moderate parts of the Palestinian economy by handing [over] rapid growth in those areas, rapid economic growth that gives a stake for peace for the ordinary Palestinians.
