ABSTRACT
Poor beginning (not sufficiently specific): The issue of college admissions has become of increasing concern to students, parents, and the public. This is especially true in the new millennium, in which many more students will be enrolling in college and eventually going on to graduate school. Improved version (specific to the research topic): The Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) General Test is a standardized test of verbal, quantitative, and analytical reasoning that is designed, primarily, to facilitate admissions to U. S. graduate schools. Since its inception in 1949, the original measure and several revisions have been widely used and frequently studied (e.g., see Briel, O'Neill, & Scheuneman, 1993 ... ).1
