ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book examines both the external and internal dimensions of intelligence community (IC) leadership. It also examines a range of analytical techniques—both common and emerging in ICs and the advantages and disadvantages of these in producing more reliable analytical judgements. The book investigates how artificial intelligence is being used in various IC applications and explores the extent that IC leaders can reconcile the technological, counter-intelligence, and ethical challenges in its use. It explores a series of intelligence governance challenges related to improving workforce planning outcomes. The book provides a summary of the major themes raised in all sections of the book.
