ABSTRACT

Clearly knowledge of population dynamics is as important as five year plans for economic development to employ the extra hands, feed the extra mouths, and in time attain standards of living which we may expect to be associated with lower rates of population increase. 'The density of population is as it were the synthesis of all the geographical phenomena. The great stretch of populations of high to extremely high densities in the rice lands of the Bengal delta. Some population projections indicate that the, or even a slightly increased, rate of population increase is likely to continue for at least two generations or so. Even the rate of population increase swung up, the government of India had however been greatly concerned about the population problem. Linguistic and cultural differences remain sufficiently great to present a real problem to individuals and particularly to families migrating over long distances.
