ABSTRACT

Problem: Researchers wanted to assess posttraumatic stress symptoms in children and adolescents who were survivors of cancer. Families of survivors who had been off treatment for at least one year were contacted by mail and phone. Ninety-one percent of the families contacted agreed to participate in the study, but only 62% of these families returned the questionnaires that were mailed to them. Near the end of their research report, the researchers discussed this and other problems that are described below.
