ABSTRACT

A convenience sample is a type of nonprobability sample. It relies on information from available subjects. Convenience samples are frequently used in nonscientific studies because they are easy to obtain and inexpensive. Researchers use convenience samples to pretest questionnaires or interview guides, or to evaluate new materials. They helped by selecting some of the research articles, reviewing Methodological Summaries and Excerpts and answering the questions. Sometimes, researchers reporting articles in academic journals rely on data from convenience samples. Because the data are obtained from a casually drawn, non-reproducible sample of an unknown population, the results should be viewed as suggestive only.
