ABSTRACT
This chapter helps criminal justice professionals to learn a simplified method that can be used anytime they need to write—on the job, at home, or for school. It teaches criminal justice professionals a method of organizing their reports that can be used for any type of writing that they need to complete. Many reports start with the completion of the face page. The face page often provides the basic identifying information about who, what, when, where, and how of an incident. The first step of writing the narrative report involves reviewing the notes that have been taken. The beautiful thing about writing the report is that it works for any writing, whether it is a few paragraphs long or a few hundred pages long. In college and criminal justice academy classrooms in which the students or recruits have not had many real-life experiences, newspaper articles or simulations can provide the facts to use in practicing report writing.
