ABSTRACT
Nancy Welch’s first book, Getting Restless: Rethinking Revision in Writing Instruction (1997), grew out of her doctoral work in composition and rhetoric and her own experiences as a writer of fiction. Drawing on narrative case studies, Getting Restless was originally part of a dissertation that included a series of short stories focused on working class families in the industrial Midwest, later published as The Road from Prosperity: Stories (2005).
