ABSTRACT

This chapter provides the guidance for completing the doctorate application and preparing for the course interviews. Some people are excited by the idea of being part of a profession that is relatively young particularly when compared to medicine and that comes with all sorts of potential for development. Clinical psychology also provides opportunity to work in a variety of ways that is therapist, neuropsychologist, researcher, advocate, manager, consultant, leader, supervisor, and so on. Clinical psychology trainees often have a variety of personal and professional reasons for choosing to work in the profession. Trainee clinical psychologists will choose different courses for a variety of reasons which can depend on the course location, teaching emphasis, the selection procedure, method of evaluation, the style of thesis, amongst other things. The trainee clinical psychologists stress the importance of putting in the ground work for the application and they suggested some ways to make their application stand out.
