ABSTRACT

Once teams have completed the strenuous and exciting work of using the Response to Intervention (RtI) Implementation Guide to develop the Plan for their system of RtI, it is time to Build the Capacity of all staff members to understand and fulfill their roles and responsibilities. Building Capacity with RtI is about making sure all components of the system of RtI are understood, agreed upon, doable, and committed to by all staff members. Successful implementation of RtI and Continuous School Improvement (CSI) hinges on effective leadership. Organizations with strong leaders and leadership teams developed through CSI will have structures in place to manage the components and activities associated with RtI implementation. Leaders utilize the leadership team and structures available to design, implement, monitor, and evaluate with integrity and fidelity. Staffs need to fully understand the intent and purpose of the system of RtI to consistently implement with integrity and fidelity.
