ABSTRACT

In this chapter I present research gathered from 34 interviews1 conducted in the UK and Australia with policy players involved in climate adaptation decision-making, to reveal their perceptions of the usefulness and usability of climate science and policy evidence. Interview participants were divided between Climate Change Scientists involved in the production of climate science outputs for government; Policy Scientists involved in the development of adaptation science and policy evidence such as impact and risk assessments that are often derived from climate science; and Policy Players working either in ministerial departments, non-departmental government agencies, or in or with local government councils who have used (or have been expected to use) climate-related evidence for policymaking and implementation.
