ABSTRACT

The simplest version of a story is a reader. This is a short script that the anchor or reporter will read on the air. It can also be pre-recorded by the reporter for use later in the day. Readers are often used when a story is just starting to develop and not very many details are available yet. They are quick to write and easy to get on the air because they don't contain any interview clips and don't require any production. An actuality is a small segment of an interview, either audio or video clip. It can also be called a voice cut, cut, sound, sound bite, audio or video. Wraps are stories that are recorded, generally by a reporter but they can also be produced by an anchor before or after their shift for use later once they are no longer on the air. A reax story is a type of 'to follow' story.
