ABSTRACT

Promos are designed to get someone to the newscast. They generally combine promoting the newscast itself along with a story or two. It might also promote the anchors, reporters or someone else involved in the news. Vagueness is key when writing teases, but at the same time they have to be interesting. They are most often used within the newscast to get people to stay through commercials or elements that not everyone is interested in such as business or sports. When it comes to the headlines, they are going to cover our biggest stories and those are probably going to be doom, gloom, death and destruction as we have previously discussed. With promos, it's good practice not to use stories of a negative nature. These promos are likely going to be running in other types of programming, such as a television show or music on the radio show.
