ABSTRACT

Most of us in news are always coming up with ideas for stories that we would like to do. A lot of time, though, we don't have a chance to do them. With an enterprised story, we are in charge. We come up with the idea, do the interviews, write the copy and voice piece. It turned out the sheep had been painted by local artists and were going to be sold at auction to benefit a community effort. They had been put on the center medians so people would see them and hopefully participate in the auction to own one for themselves. But we still need to consider audience demographics. They may not be the same as our own demographics and that can make our enterprise idea not relevant. While a thoughtful piece on selecting a proper home for aging parents might be an excellent idea, if our audience is very young, they will likely be unable to relate.
