ABSTRACT
For most people, the time to make that first career move is six months to one year after they get their first job. Once we start working five days a week on our craft, our skills are going to improve very quickly. We have also already established a track record within that type of broadcasting, and if we are on-air talent, we should be able to show some ratings or records to bolster our self-promotion. Moving from market to market is a double-edged sword in this industry. Some people look at it as a way to see cities and parts of the country that they wouldn't otherwise have a chance to see. Even if the first job we get is a union job, we do not have to already be in SAG-AFTRA when we apply or even if we get hired.
