If it had been permitted by the custom of our university to follow in every detail the order of Galen, whose teaching I am avowedly imitating, I should first have described how /86r the joints of the limbs are fitted together, what muscles move them, and what nerves, arteries and veins run within each part; just as this part of anatomy has been entirely neglected heretofore, now it is absolutely essential.
