ABSTRACT
JABBER, GABBLE, MUMBLE. These are all imitative words signifying methods of vocal expression. Between jabber and gabble there is little difference except that suggested by the sound of the words; they are both derived from gab, to talk, itself an imitative word which has an interesting history. They signify the utterance of rapid, inarticulate sounds.
