ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book enables teachers of mathematics to plan and deliver lessons that will meet the individual needs of learners who experience difficulties. It is especially valuable to maths teachers because the ideas and guidance are provided within a subject context, ensuring relevance and practicability. Teachers who cater well for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities are likely to cater well for all pupils – demonstrating outstanding practice in their everyday teaching.
