ABSTRACT
The principle underlying this chapter is that spoken language is a powerful tool for learning. Teaching talk skills and strategies for the practice and consolidation of these are essential to maximise children’s capacity to learn, achieve and participate. We share examples of children talking and interacting, and outline techniques for the direct teaching of talk.
